Maker Break

Stress-free Crafting for Professional Creatives

Maker Break provides professional creatives with an alternative outlet for creative expression through a craft supplies subscription service as well as vending art supplies.

Hand-crafted. Refreshing. Convivial.

Maker Break’s products and packaging feel hand-crafted themselves—hand-painted and hand-written. Looking at the box and packaging is inspiring on its own.

The goal of the subscription boxes is for them to be a treat, a break, so they aren’t harsh to look at. The box and its contents visually represent the peace they are intended to bring. Maker Break is just that—a break! A break from the mental exhaustion that comes from being creative on cue. The drawings that cover the boxes invites users to pick up a color pencil and draw alongside them.

Drawing System

One of the identifying features of Maker Break materials is the drawings that adorn them. Instead of showing buyers images of finished products they should aspire to and compare themselves to, packaging and advertisements show illustrations of potential creations to spark inspiration while leaving results up to the imagination. All drawings were completed by hand using colored pencil and then scanned in.
